Rick Eckerd

Richard Eckerd, a native of Florida, was educated at Tulane University, the Penland School of Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School, and the Rochester Institute of Technology.  He now lives and works in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  Eckerd’s altered, brightly colored geometric forms become the building blocks with which to explore the larger subjects of rhythm and gesture as they relate to both figure and vessel.  His interest in the ocean and underwater life is reflected in the design of many of his teapots and vessels.
