“With the figurative work I explore a moment in time, trying to capture that emotion that last only a second. Through the elongated figure I explore the subtle gestures, reducing the figure to a linear form allows the gestures to become more visible.”

All the figures are hand-built using stoneware clay to create the forms in multiple pieces, during this stage care is taken to capture the gesture and texture that will be in the final work. These pieces are fired in a kiln and then meticulously assembled afterwards to make the figure. After the pieces have been assembled a multi-layer finish is applied to create a deep since of color and light.
